How do I add an event?

Events need to be posted right away. You want to get them out there for the world to see as soon as possible, so waiting for someone else to post them just won't do.

Apply for an events account. After you're approved (please allow up to one business day for approval!), you can post your Chicago events on The Local Tourist's events calendar and they'll appear immediately. All you have to do is:

  1. Register to be a Local Tourist
  2. Check "event" under Apply for role while registering
  3. Wait for approval. You'll get an email notifying you when you're approved.

Your Local Tourist account is ready to go as soon as you click on "Create new account", but we have to manually approve events accounts. As soon as you receive the email indicating that your events account is approved you can start adding your events.

To add an event:

  1. Make sure you're logged in
  2. Click on "Create content" at the right of the page.
  3. Click on "Event Listing"
  4. Add the details of the event on the form and submit

Done!

Event listings are text only, unless...

We do offer an enhanced event listing, which allows you to include images for the life of the listing for only $25. This will appear in the listing itself, on the map, and in any summary pages. If you'd like to include images, let us know.
