Born and raised in Venice, Italy, owner and chef, Stefano Roman, now calls Chicago home. In 2005, he and his wife, Juliana Montebello-Roman, created Pizza Rustica.
While Stefano attributes the success of the restaurant to his wife, she says it's Stefano's cooking that is the heart and soul of it all and the reason for its great success.
The menu is on par with trattorias in Italy, featuring fresh ingredients in a warm, inviting atmosphere. In addition to the unique and daring pizza with a layered, crunchy crust, Stefano's seasonal nightly 'blackboard' specials include a variety of inspired, authentic dishes.
The big news is that after six and a half years, they've moved to a beautiful, much larger location at 3908 N. Sheridan Road (across the street from their old location at 3913 N. Sheridan). "We're grateful to all of our regular customers and couldn't be more excited to expand in the neighborhood that has made us so successful." Their goal is to maintain the quality, value, authenticity, and warm atmosphere they've come to be known for.
The larger space maintains the coziness and intimacy of the original Pizza Rustica with brick walls, tin ceilings, wood floors, and open steel kitchen. Best of all, it has a new beer, wine and cocktail bar.
"Now, along with Stefano's great food, we have a well-rounded, high-quality, reasonably priced selection of beer, wine, premium spirits, and hand-crafted cocktails".
