Reclaiming the Taste of Summer
Whether you call Wrigley Field or U.S. Cellular Field “home,” we can all agree that hot dogs and beer are a classic summer pairing. But as winter approaches and our conversations shift towards bowl games, it can be difficult to put down the hard apple cider and turkey leg to recapture the feeling of baseball season.
Fear not friends of the Beef Frank, Leo’s Coney Island on Southport Ave. is helping you relive a little part of summer by offering $2 beers all winter long. This sweet deal started on Monday and according to Leo's Twitter account, Cub's pitcher Tom Gorzelanny swung by on the first day for a bite to eat*.
Thankfully this special applies to more than just the basic light beers most restaurant specials use as a default. Here you can enjoy some great beers, at a cheap price, like Goose Island’s 312, Bell’s, Amstel Light and several others.
If the hot dogs that hail from Motown don’t tickle your taste buds, dive into one of Leo’s burgers, salads or pitas. While I haven’t personally tried the food at Leo’s, this beer special makes a trip to Southport more than likely.
Cheers and drop a note in the comments section if you have any recommendations.
*I can't confirm whether or not Tom Gorzelanny took advantage of the $2 beer special.
