I miss the days of drive-in movies. Yes IMax 3D is a thing of wonderment but the drive-in was a fun place to be. I'll admit I frequented them more as a kid on family outings in the late 70's early 80's then I did as a teenager or in my twenties but it was sad to see them on their way out. So when I discovered that Filmspotting hosts Adam Kempenaar and Josh Larsen will be leading off a Zombie Apocalypse Double Feature at the Cascade Drive-In (Illinois largest outdoor cinema) I was stoked. Not only is it a zombie double feature but a parody zombie double feature featuring the films Zombieland (2009) starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Shaun of the Dead (2004) starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, two of my favorite films.
WBEZ 91.5 FM is presenting the event on Thursday May 17th at 8PM and admission fees are $15/general admission (per car) and $12/WBEZ members (per car). Cascade Drive-In is located on 1100 E. North Avenue in West Chicago, IL and though it stretches outside Chicagoland, Cascade Drive-in is one of the remaining drive-ins that we're fortunate to have here in Illinois. It's a chance to bring back those nostalgic moments of the kids fighting in the backseat, granny snoring before the film even starts, and couples cuddling close to watch the best B movie in town. It's worth the drive.
