What do you get when you mix Mayhaim, Dread, and Literature? - CCLaP's PODCAST DREADFUL!
WOW, was I excited when Jason Pettus from the Chicago Center of Literature and Photography (CCLaP) sent me info about a big new project that they're starting up NEXT WEEK called Podcast Dreadful. What an awesome name and definitely, at least for me, an attention getter. It's a three month event that starts in September, where there is a local LIVE event planned, all the way through to November.
It's a 12 part serial audio anthology that will run every Monday for all three months. I was told that the serial was inspired by the old Victorian "Penny Dreadful" which was a publication that featured writers that would leave cliffhangers at the end of every chapter and of course dread throughout. Imagine dark and eerie tones and sounds, chills yet? Well, Podcast Dreadful will feature 12 writers and for episode 4 their will be a live event which will be held at Quimby's in Wicker Park on Sept. 21st were the live audience, with the assistance from a crew, will experience real-time radio-style sound effects. The authors planned for that night will be Davis Schneiderman, Jacob Knabb, Jason Fisk and an author still yet to be announced (ohhh the mystery is already starting).
So head on ever to Podcast Dreadful for more information and of course, below I will be giving you the list of authors who will be performing. Also to note, you will see links next to a couple of names below and what they lead to are anthologies that are available through CCLaP's publishing. Yes CCLaP's very own authors. I did a review of Ben Tanzer's 'So Different Now' and LOVED IT. You can read the review here.
Here's to a few months of dread like in the old Victorian days that I look forward to experiencing and I hope you do as well.
