A DP or cameraperson's medium is his camera to make films, photographer it's their, nowadays, DSLR camera, to take stills, a writer it's the pen and paper or, for most, their computer or laptop. For a makeup artist it's the human body. The makeup artist is responsible for the look of whatever subject one is trying to film, photograph or conjure up as a character in their story. The makeup artist brings out the personality of each character rather it be in a moving film or still. So remember the important role a makeup artist plays being a true artist along side other artistic expressions.
This summer Chicago will be one of the places where professional makeup artist will be showing of their work while displaying the newest lines and product launches, offering hands-on workshops, school representations, seminars and allowing up and coming and even established makeup artist a chance to network with their peers. It called The Makeup Show 2013 and it's being held in five cities. There will be many professional brands trying to lure you in to trying what they have to offer as well as a few startups.
