Just In Time To Check Out The 2nd Annual Chicago Turkish Film Festival Sept. 6th - 28th
Oh wow I didn't even know that this was happening, so I'm very happy to have come upon it in the early days. I'm not surprised that it's taking place but once again, with joy and excitement, it's truly a positive and rewarding moment when you discover something that can help you learn of and about a people. Starting this past week on Friday, September 6th, 2013, TACA & Moon and Stars Project collaborated to bring us the 2nd Annual Chicago Turkish Film Festival (CTFF).
The festival goes all the way through to the 28th and its mission statement says it's "Raising the cultural IQ of Chicago" and along with this goal they are also building bridges between cultures using cinema as its tool. I wish I could tell you more about the films being presented but just as I am happy to make many of you aware of this festival, I too am one of the newbies. Let's support the Turkish community together by attending the festival or by checking out the website and its trailer.
It's taking place at the Gene Siskel Film Center between Lake and Randolph and across the street from the Chicago Theater and adjacent to ABC 7′s studio. Be sure to checkout the film festival's schedule for films and ticket purchases also for transportation information. Be sure to check out the trailer below to see what's ahead. You can keep up with news and updates by following on Twitter and liking on Facebook.
Building bridges through art is not a revolutionary concept but it is a beautiful and wonderful way to bring people together. It's a concept that is time indefinite and one that can only garner understanding and appreciation. We here at The Local Tourist are always happy to discover outstanding food, services, architecture and definitely communities that make Chicago what it is, a vibrant cultural city. Now we can add the 2nd Annual Chicago Turkish Film Festival (CTFF) to that fold.
