Have you had a Foodgasm lately?
Nowadays it seems as if television networks are not too happy with many of the television shows that they put out considering how many are cancelled after just one season. Though there seem to be many fans of those cancelled shows considering how many petitions you can find pleading with the networks not to cancel or begging some other network to pick it up. Sometimes it works but unfortunately most of the time it doesn't. So I either hear from friends and their friends or I'll read a blog post of how someone has decided to give up television completely (I confess, I was one of them). But we are a television society simply because it helps pass the time. Not that reading isn't an option and Chicago has a vibrant literary community. But television is what our (X and Y) generation know. Well all is not lost. What is coming on the horizon and getting a lot of notice are...online webisodes or web television. Yes, those creative individuals who may have thought at one time of being the next Aaron Spelling have decided to try another path. The internet.
In the next few months I will be searching for Chicagoans who are striving to be content providers online and today I would like to bring your attention to one such provider. Her name is Ashley Simone. Simone is the chef, host and a producer of Foodgasm, a show filled with recipes, delicious dishes, and a chef with a retro (think 40's swing) sexy sway about her that alone will make you want to come back and see more of her quirky style.
Her dishes are geared toward alternative diets such as lactose free, vegetarian, gluten free, etc. but the idea is to make them tasty and appealing to all who are watching. Foodgasm's goal is to present to you dishes that are not only sensual but express food as love.
You can subscribe to Foodgasm on Youtube and also follow along with the blog to get all the fabulous recipes that are on the show as well as some extras. I've put one of my favorite episodes showing how to make Triple Threat Brownies. I'm sure you chocolate lovers will enjoy making these.
Just a little bit about Ashley. She is not only a chef but she was trained in dance and has trained at Chicago's very own Columbia College and is now attending Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago finishing up her Bachelor's degree in culinary arts. Also to add to that wonderful quirkiness of hers, at 21 she actually ran off to join the circus (Ringling Bros.and Barnum and Bailey) to be a dancer. Now that's just awesome.
You can follow Foodgasm on Facebook to keep up with the show's updates as well as the chef. And remember as Ashley says, “Food is love”. See you at the next potluck :)
