CCLaP and Orange Alert: Fans Of The Indie World

If you’re someone who looks for and likes to support the indie world then there are two local websites, besides reading my articles here at TLT (shameless plug), you should be following.

Chicago Center for Literature and Photography (CCLaP) is a great website from Jason Pettus that does book reviews, especially self published books, has its own publishing, it has a pay what you want system but offers specialty handmade products for a reasonable price, and it’s a great place to find great photos discovered out in the wild; It’s a full art center that exhibits a variety of art through different media. CCLaP has also launched its first monthly journal where you can read of material from past blog post with a glimpse of exclusive new content. There’s a podcast too but I’ll save that for another day.

The other website is What to Wear During an Orange Alert (Orange Alert). This is such an intriguing and awesome name for a website, I love it. Besides a great name its goal is to represent all that is independent.  Orange Alert’s Jason Behrends has interviewed numerous artists, authors and musicians from its humble beginning in 2006 and has also established its own publishing, has a podcast as well as a monthly newsletter.

I’m a follower of these websites and have discovered some great talent and purchased some great items. Stop by and check out both websites as well as following them on Twitter and Facebook.  The independent world has a wealth of talent that will not only surprise you but will definitely turn anyone into a fan.
