Get Sculpted in More Ways Than One

Let us face it, when it comes to exercise, we can get bored or distracted pretty easily. For many that are starting an exercise program, boredom and lack of results are top reasons for dropping out early. A new studio in Lakeview will remedy that quickly! Power Sculpt Fitnessoffers a variety of interval workouts that strengthen and lengthen your muscles, while burning calories and increasing your metabolism. Each signature Power Sculpt Fitness™ class includes strength, cardio, core, and flexibility components to effectively deliver results. Typically, these components are spread out over several workouts, so you are maximizing your workouts in a shorter time frame.

The Power Behind the Brand
Power Sculpt Fitness™ was created by owner Heather Hughes, a 15-year veteran in the Chicago fitness industry. Heather’s extensive background includes a BS in Exercise Physiology/Health Promotion from the University of Iowa and a MEd in Secondary Health & Physical Education from DePaul University. She has worked in almost every area of the fitness industry including, but not limited to corporate fitness, cardiac rehabilitation, athletic conditioning, exercises testing, and group fitness management. Since 1999, she was a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and former group fitness program assistant at the Ray Meyer Fitness and Recreation Center at DePaul University. It was here that she created and named numerous class formats, in addition to developing and training many instructors. Her popular formats created an extremely large and very loyal participant base. Drawing on this following along with her vast experience and knowledge, she created Power Sculpt Fitness™ to expand on the success of her program.

A Little Something For Everyone
What makes Power Sculpt Fitness™ unique compared to other studios is their class offering. Seven types of class formats are offered, with each focused on the same result - a strong, lean, and defined physique. The variety of classes gives you the flexibility to mix up your workouts, while each class provides the ultimate in total body conditioning. The main focus is metabolism-building strength and endurance intervals, allowing you to take the intensity of your workout to the next level. Not sure where to start? PSF Signature is a good class to get your feet wet, which includes resistance training mixed with cardio intervals. I had the opportunity to take TRX Barre Challenge and Kickbox Interval, both which offer uniquely challenging workouts. TRX Barre Challenge combines exercises on the TRX Suspension Trainer and plyometric drills. Just when you think you are done, Heather throws in a barre sequence to really fire those small muscle groups! Kickbox Interval takes the fun components of cardio kickboxing combinations, plyometric drills (push-ups, mountain climbers, football drills, squat jumps - oh my!), and two rounds of timed circuit stations. Both classes are rounded out by core work and a final stretch. Heather’s high energy and motivation will get your heart pumping and body moving, so that by the time you are done, you are left with a happy feeling of exhaustion!

Approachable Workouts
Group fitness classes can seem intimidating, especially if you are a beginner. Heather believes every participant should feel welcomed, regardless of their fitness level. She has an unique ability to challenge the most advanced participant while also provide modifications for the beginner. For example, she will break down a kickboxing sequence, either starting with a slower tempo or building upon each component. This approach provides a safe and effective environment, while still making exercise fun. Finally, what makes Power Sculpt Fitness™ classes so successful is the efficiency. As a mother of three, Heather understands the need to maximize class time. She certainly does just that - working you hard from beginning to end!
