Boy, Am I Tired
3 March 2008 Send To a FriendI apologize. I have been sorely negligent in the last week. I wanted to let you know that I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. If you follow me on Twitter you know it’s been just the opposite. I have truly been enjoying Chicago and its many, diverse offerings. It’s my job to report back on these activities and I promise to do so. Not every one will receive an individual post, but here’s what I’ve been up to:
- Media dinner at Deleece, where I learned to never fake that you recognize someone. Boy, was I busted!
- Dinner at SushiSamba Rio with friends from Indianapolis, then cocktails at the new CityScape overlooking the Loop skyline, then checking out a band at Elbo Room. My friends’ comment: you actually like that music? Hoosiers.
- Chicago Metal Factory at Metro. Some of the bands were heavy even for me, but Disonic was there so I had to go! Dirge was also fantastic. My ears are still ringing. Yes, Mom, next time I’ll buy earplugs (available from the coat check gal for a buck).
- Neopolitan pizza at Sapore di Napoli, then Thodos Dance Company at the Athenaeum. I finally was able to see my friend Jeremy dance!
- Lyric Opera Backstage Tour. Indicative quote from the tour: “All this for an art form.” I took many pictures and this will get an extensive write-up, especially since I’m going to Eugene Onegin on Wednesday.
- Paper Arrows CD Release Party at Schuba’s. My first really all-ages concert. There were kids running around like my brother and I used to in department stores when we’d hide in the racks. This is not a bad thing, especially since they lined up to get the singer’s autograph.
- Brendan’s, my neighborhood pub, for a nightcap. I met J. Quillian, whose painting of a Cubs game at Wrigley is on display at The Drake Hotel.
As you can see, I’ve been just a wee bit busy and I have a lot of catching up to do. Tomorrow. Tonight I’m heading to HeresChicago.com’s St. Pat’s Bash for meeting & travel planners.
I love this city!
