Paige Worthy: doing it wrong.

The nice thing about blogging for yourself is that there aren't really rules. No one tells you when or how many times to post; there are no set topics or assignments.

But for me, recently, blogging for myself has been an invitation to be lazy and write nothing at all. I can make excuses like redesigning my website, focusing on the job search, working hard on client writing, choosing which yoga pants to wear. But it really boils down to not stringing words together.

So I started looking for ways to hold myself more accountable… Like signing up to train for a 200-mile charity bike ride. And blogging for The Local Tourist.

Anyway, hi. I'm Paige Worthy.

Maybe you know me from Twitter — I'm @paigeworthy — and maybe you read my blog back when I was actually writing things in it. Maybe you read about me in the Tribune (all I'll say about that piece is "LOL") or you've seen me at Social Media Club events.

I get around.

As for what I'll be writing here? Well, apparently when I applied, I asked to cover film, music, restaurants, business and networking, and news and community. I don't know that I'm actually qualified to write about any of those things. You be the judge.

Despite my professional background in journalism, I've never been one for deadlines or beats or being edited. I haven't read through all the rules of formally contributing to this site I've turned to for years as a local tourist myself, but I'll venture a guess right now that at some point, someone will slap me on the wrist and say, "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG."

It wouldn't be the first time.

But to hear my sister tell it — though I'm not sure she meant it as a compliment — that's part of my charm.

"People like you because you're kind of doing it wrong."

So let's do this.
