Review: French Restaurant Cafe Central

I am sooo becoming the Chicago roving blogger on the Highland Park beat because I found another Highland Park Restaurant I’m going to rave about. It’s a small family owned and operated (one of the sons waited on us) authentic French bistro called Cafe Central.

Cafe Central is located right on Central Ave (duh, get it?!) and has the best Highland Park sidewalk people watching location. Sit down and order a glass of wine on a Sunday afternoon as me and three of my friends did and enjoy great service and fine fresh French cuisine.

One of my party (my boss) is a liver lover and very picky where he orders it and when our waiter assured him that his family had the best to-die-for recipe boss took the chance and ordered it--LOVED! Whew-right?! It was Sautéed Calves Liver with roasted potatoes, sautéed onions, broccoli, provençal tomatoes and sage sauce. I tasted it and I like it too. But I ordered the Black Angus Filet Mignon with the frites and I loved that as much as boss loved his. The other two guys at my table ordered a fish and a lamb dish and we were all so blown away that we cannot wait to meet up there again. THIS IS A RAVE.

The Cafe Central Cafe is closed on Mondays but they take reservations. Their website is lackluster but that does not mean they are not culinary savvy.  I really loved this restaurant and I hope you can make it there before sidewalk dining season is over. Check closely on the hours because they are cooking between lunch and dinner open hours.
