New Pop Music Star Isaiah Grass

There was a Facebook message to me from a young man after I accepted his friend request on Facebook. His name is Isaiah Grass R. Grass. I thought Isaiah was just a cute little boy-twink who had read my book, Mafia Hairdresser, and he friended me because the little coming-out story within the mob story really touched him and helped him with his coming out. Maybe he liked the 80’s, of which my book’s timeline is immersed, because his thumbnail pic looked very retro to me, for a young pup.
The first sentence of his message said, “Hi Jon, What's up? I just wanted to say thank you for adding me. I realized that alot of my friends on here don’t know im an up and coming POP SINGER.”
Ungh, he called me “Jon,” and he was selling a pop record and he probably knows I write a blog for The Local Tourist in Chicago. I almost ignored the rest of the message but instead I clicked on his official website link and listened to his music. I’m glad I did. This kid is good.
Do not be thrown by his boyish I-wanna-be-a-pop-star looks. On the first song I listened to, which is indeed 80’s retro, his confidence of youth is balanced with a catchy beat and lyrics. Check out None of This, for Isaiah’s humor, and I’m a Freak for his statement of I’m me, I’m dancing and “I’ll show you what I can do.”
I read the “little twinks’” bio and he’s only been in the record business for less than a year but he writes his own lyrics and I think he just might be here to stay if he sticks with it. Isaiah Grass is from North Carolina, and he was one of the voted winners of the North Coast Music Fests’ Toast of the Coast contest. His Facebook info says he speaks English, Spanish & Italian. He started out as a model. Oy. This little beyoch got my career--if I had the talent to write music, had the range of his voice, had his good looks, and was 30 years younger. I have no idea if he is gay or straight and it has no relevance in this day, especially if you have talent like Isaiah Grass
Your kids are going to love him and I recommend him to all ages as well. Click here for his website and you can sample and download his tunes.
Good luck to you, Isaiah. Let us know when you are performing in Chicago again.
jon-david is a hairdresser who wrote a book about being a hairdresser to a mob couple in the 80’s. Click here. jon-david is not a model or a singer, but he is also a hairdresser at Joseph Michael’s Salon & Spa.
