Join the best Breakfast Club!

I you want to join the best “breakfast club” in Chicago. All you have to do is make reservations. This Lakeview, Greek inspired, breakfast, brunch and lunch gem is now one of my favorites because my buddies and I decided to check it out one Sunday last month and everything we ordered was delicious and the service was stellar.

I have to apologize to the owners brothers Lardakis for not writing this blog sooner but they seem to be enjoying a robust induction being known as one of Chicago’s best breakfast restaurants: They are busy!

I love Kanela because it was full and yet I could hear and talk leisurely with my friends and the atmosphere is unassuming as the food is NOT.

Check out what we sampled on our first visit: Chorizo & Eggs with avocado, chihuahua cheese, salsa, jalapeno, cilantro and sour cream. The Lorraine Scramblehad peppered bacon, gruyere cheese & caramelized onions. The Eggs Benedict had slow roasted pork belly and brussel sprouts and dried cranberries and it was crazy good.

We all split the Red Velvet French Toast and I recommend that you save room for this great sweet after your savory and do share.

I’ve gone back for lunch and I’m so glad that Lakeview has a good mid-day place where I can get a gourmet salad like the BBQ Chicken Salad or a fantastic burger with tallgrass fed beef.

 Kanela serves Julius Meinl Coffee (I had two cafe Au Lait and I was flying!) and serves only the freshest and organic ingredients as well as Egg-Land’s Best Farm Fresh Cage Free Organic Eggs.
