An Evening at the Derby is the major fundraising event for Almost Home Kids. What is Almost Home Kids? That’s the Naperville, and now Chicago, organization that provides transitional care in a home–like setting to children with complicated health needs, training for their families and respite care. What is respite care? It is the provision of short-term, temporary relief to those who are caring for family members who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside the home. Yowzah! This is a much needed organization and I hope that you’ll save this date: April 26th, 2013 at 6:30 PM.
This year’s An Evening at the Derby will be at Ashton Place in Willowbrook and you will be able to reserve a single seat, a table or become a donor or sponsor up to the Platinum level.
The following Awardees will be recognized at the event:
“Volunteer Extraordinaire” Micheal G. Busse. Michael has served on the AHK Board for over four years and during his tenure he has been a tireless advocate and champion of our mission.
“Share the Care Champion” Representative Patricia R. Bellock. Representative Bellock has been a long time advocate and supporter of Almost Home Kids.
“Distinguished Donor” LexisNexis. Diana Hornung, Executive Assistant at LexisNexis in Bolingbrook, Illinois organized a service project at Almost Home Kids with 19 employees, helping with everything from painting the children’s bedrooms, to planting and general maintenance. Thanks to the relationship formed that volunteer day, Diana entered Almost Home Kids into the LexisNexis/RE Cares Challenge, a worldwide corporate initiative to support a community service project both financially and with the necessary manpower to complete the project. Of all the projects submitted; AHK won and was granted $10,000 to complete the project!
