Burke's Public House in Edgewater
Burke’s Public House in Edgewater is my new fav place to have a beer and a GREAT BURGER. I know you’ll like this new cozy sports bar as much as I do because the wait staff, greeter and bartender all gave me a hey, a nod or a “can I help you,” and none of them was pushy or weird about it--the people working there just seemed relaxed and happy to be there.
The food is way above average for a sports bar.
I ordered Burke’s Angus Beef Burger with homemade Aioli, which is “a Spanish traditional sauce made of garlic, olive oil, and (typically) egg. There are many variations, such as the addition of mustard or, in Catalonia, pears...” I Googled Aioli, but I really loved the burger with it, and their fries are waffle French Fries=good!, and, I think they also have sweet potato fries (but I never like those in any restaurant).
If you want another great meal: I also went back and had the Burke Stack: Fresh roasted turkey, roasted beef, cheddar & Swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato and honey mustard on multigrain bread--it was simple, but simply good.
Edgewater prices beat downtown.
Another reason I like Burke’s Public House, is the prices. My burger was $9.60, the Burke Stack is $9. Come on...you can’t get a great burger or a good meal for less than $15 downtown. I’ve lived in Uptown for the past year so I’m thrilled I have a place to go with downtown standards yet Edgewater prices.
Burke’s Public House has some great weekly AND weekend specials:
- Monday 1/2 off appetizers such as French Fried Green Beans/Wings/Nachos/Flatbreads/Black & Tan Onion Rings
- Tuesday is $2 Miller Lite Drafts & Tuesday Trivia Games!
- Wednesday is $6 Soli Martini
- Thursdays is $4 Draft & Well Drinks
- On the weekends, there’s $3 Domestic Bottles
Burke’s is for their beer and micro brew selection, but I usually stick to my Martini, so that’s all lost on me, but I will be back--lots. I do hope you will check out this great restaurant bar, owned by two brothers, Brendan & Kevin who named their Grandmother’s original Pubic House, and you can read about that cute little story on their website.
Burke’s is located at 5401 N. Broadway Ave, & Balmoral Ave, just one block north of the Berwyn Red Line stop.
[4pm to 2am Mon-Fri] [11am to 3am Saturday] [11am to 2am Sundays]
