The Annual Andersonville South Neighborhood Association’s “Howl-O-Ween” Dog Parade & Costume Contest will be Saturday, October 27 this year.

Registration opens at noon in front of the Bow Wow Lounge, 1744 W. Winona. There is an entry fee of $5 per dog, which includes a free raffle tickets.

Raffle prizes and refreshments will be available to all.

The parade starts at 1:30 p.m and paraders and pups will walk east on Winona which will be blocked between Ravenswood & Paulina from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Last year some 75 dogs and their humans paraded down Winona with hundreds more watching.

Eight cash prizes will be awarded for the best costumed dogs, including a $50 Grand Prize. Twenty-five dollars will be awarded for Scariest, Funniest, Most Original, Best Homemade, Best Pet/Owner Costume Combo, Best Entry Owner Age 12 and Under, and Judge’s Favorite.

Proceeds support beautification of the Ravenswood Parkway.

Admission is free for humans but those attending are encouraged to bring donations of donations of canned and dry dog food, toys and cleaning supplies for the Famous Fido Rescue & Adoption Alliance based in Andersonville.
