Warm Weather Causes Delays In Two Chicago Favorites

One of the holiday season's most popular activities is ice skating in Millennium Park. The rink was orginally supposed to open yesterday, but this "fall" has been so unseasonably warm in Chicago they've had to push it back a week. It's tentatively schedule to open next Wednesday, November 19. Once open it will remain open until March 15 of 2009. Skating's free and the rental is $10.

Another event that's anticipated all year by many is the lighting of the Christmas Tree in Daley Plaza. It normally is lit the Friday after Thanksgiving, but this year the ceremony won't take place until December 2. The Christkindlmarket, which spreads through the plaza at the base of the tree, will carry on as planned. You can enjoy the traditional German market from Thanksgiving Day until December 24.
