Taste of TLT Weekend Edition - March 18, 19 & 20, 2011
It's the Friday edition of Taste of TLT, when we tell you where to go all weekend long.
If you're near McCormick Place this weekend don't be surprised to see capes, costumes, and plenty of masked men (and women). The Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, or C2E2 as it's affectionately known, will fill the convention center with icons of pop culture from comics, television, movies, and the gaming world.
St. Patrick's Day is over but Irish storytelling continues. The Druid Theatre is presenting The Cripple of Inishmaan, a "savagely funny and brutally honest tale" about an ambitious orphan with dreams of stardom.
Willie Nelson has definitely achieved those dreams and you can see why tonight at The Chicago Theatre when the iconic country music star takes the stage.
Ad: Today's Taste of TLT is brought to you by Chef's Table. This month we're visiting Chicago's hottest new spot for tapas on March 28. Get your seat at La Taberna Tapas for only $25. For more information, visit thelocaltourist.com/chefstable
Victor Hotel makes it easy to help out. Just bring a donation and your smile for the Children's Memorial Hospital's 1000 Happy Faces. A photographer will be on hand to capture Your happy face to appear on a billboard designed to bring attention to the hospital. That's something to smile about.
Sunday make a pig of yourself at Cochon 555. This traveling culinary competition and tasting event features five chefs, five pigs, and five wines. Each chef will prepare a 175-pound heritage breed hog from head to toe, and five winemakers will showcase their wines.
If the $125 price tag for that event is too much, enjoy a three-course dinner at MarketHouse on Sunday for just $20. The restaurant features ingredients from local markets and farmers. For even more affordable dining selections check out Chicago Chef Week. Select restaurants are participating in this restaurant week that highlights, what else, chefs! From Sunday until March 26 diners can enjoy $22 lunches and $33 dinners.
Have a great weekend!
