Taste of TLT - September 6, 2011
For many kids it's their first day back to school. Celebrate with a trip to the Lego store this evening for their Monthly Mini Model Build. Children will learn how to build a scarecrow and can take it home with them. The event and model is free and open to children ages 6 to 14. It's first come first serve, though, so get there as close to 5pm as you can.
This evening is the opening of a new exhibition at Jane Addams Hull House Museum called Unfinished Business: Arts Education. It's "a community curated, participatory art exhibition that explores the importance of the arts and insists on cultural rights as part of a thriving democracy". In addition to interactive art making stations there will be a working printing press. And cupcakes.
On the first Tuesday of every month is a screening with the Midwest Independent Film Festival. Regional films are highlighted and the evening opens with cocktails and networking. After the show head to nearby Forno Diablo for a buffet. Tonight's screening is of "Incredibly Small", a comedy out of Minneapolis.
Tuesdays On The Terrace continues for a few more weeks, and tonight you can see Samuel Savoirfaire Williams on the Museum of Contemporary Art's Terrace. The event is free and you can get a dinner buffet for $23 or more casual cuisine from the outdoor grill. Or, you can stop by nearby Saloon Steakhouse before the show for their 1/2 price bar menu and $5 glasses of house wine.
Have a great day!
