Taste of TLT - May 3, 2011
If you don't like beer then today's Taste is not for you, 'cause it's all about the sudsy stuff.
Start the day off with the Bikes, Bites and Brews Tour. There's no law that says you can't start drinking at 11am, especially when there's a whole group of you! Bobby's Bike Hike takes you on a tour of Wrigleyville, Lakeview, and Lincoln Park and along the way you'll be sampling pizza, hot dogs, cupcakes, and yes, beer.
Cycling through all those neighborhoods will make you thirsty, so continue the brewfest at Rock Bottom. It's time for their monthly beer school, and you'll get to tour the brewery, learn about beer styles and its history, and try samples for $25.
Today's Taste of TLT is brought to you by AlphaBeer! Get to know your A-Beer-C's at the only event that invites you to sample a craft brew for every letter of the alphabet. Tickets on sale now at bit.ly/tltabv
Chicago is home to an ever-increasing number of breweries. Get a tasting tour of them at Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro. This event is only $10 and you'll get to try some amazing beers, and they're all from Chicago!
Flossmoor Station is an award winning brewpup in south suburban Cook County, and tonight they're pairing up with Wildfire Restaurant for a five course dinner. Head Brewer Bryan Shimkas will walk you through each course, including Wasabi Crusted Alaskan Halibut paired with Rail Hopper IPA. Reception and dinner is only $45.
And finally, since it's Tuesday that means it's International Night at the Map Room. Tonight you'll get another Chicago brew, Metropolitan, and the cuisine is from The Rice Table, a caterer specializing in Indonesian cuisine.
Have a great day!
Music: The awesome intro and outro music is from Chicago singer/songwriter David Kav
