Taste of TLT - July 8, 9, & 10, 2011
It's hard to believe the weekend is already here, but it is and there's so much going on it'll make your head spin. Fortunately we're here to point you in the right direction.
Starting on the north side of town, we've got the Irish American Heritage Festival in Albany Park. This three day fest has music on five stages, and if that isn't enough to make you say Slainte I don't know what is.
In Roscoe Village there's a whole festival dedicated to burgers: beef, turkey, veggie - anything you can shape into a patty and put on a bun will be at this event. There will, of course, be music, so you can boogie with your burgers.
On the near northwest side is the Bucktown GardenWalk. Stop by Club Lucky or Lottie's Pub for a guide book and then explore the neighborhood's trees and gardens. The $5 donation also gets you a seat on the trolley so you can rest your weary bones between spots.
Ukrainian Village is hosting West Fest. One end features live music; the other DJs, with an emphasis on local performers. The vendors are also local, so you can really feel like you're supporting the neighborhood.
Keep heading west to support the Chicago Bulls. They're the featured team at Brookfield Zoo's "Real Fan Days". Some of the team members will be on hand, and visitors can participate in all sorts of activities, including a scavenger hunt, a broadcasting karaoke booth, and inflatable sports centers.
Hyde Park is where you'll find the DuSable Museum of African American History, and that's where you'll find the 37th Annual Arts & Crafts Festival. This year the fair "Goes Back To Our Roots" with a focus on original works of art and crafts.
Have a great weekend!
