Taste of TLT - July 22, 23 & 24, 2011
There are lots of festivals this weekend, including the Sheffield Garden Walk, Celebrate Clark Street, and the Wicker Park Fest, but there's more than that going on. If you're into shopping check out the 16th Annual Sidewalk Sale in Lincoln Park. OpenBooks is also hosting a sidewalk sale, so you can buy books for beans.
Classical music fans can enjoy an evening under the skyscrapers. The Grant Park Music Festival is performing choral pieces by Bernstein and Fauré in Millennium Park. Also in Millennium Park this weekend are the Saturday morning workouts. You can begin with yoga, work your core with pilates, and then get your heart rate up with Zumba.
If you're looking to reduce your carbon footprint, Great America wants to help. Between 1 an 3pm on Saturday the first 100 people who pledge to reduce their impact on the environment will have their names displayed in the new "Turning Waste Into A Resource" garden. If you're one of the first 50 people to get to the park between 9am and noon and bring shoes or clothing to donate to Goodwill, you can enter through the exit at your favorite ride.
This weekend Chicago Cubs fans can show their support at Brookfield Zoo's Real Fan Days. Players will be on hand and there's a scavenger hunt that teaches you about the players and the zoo's animals. Anyone who completes the hunt will be entered to win tickets to a game.
We've also got a contest where you can win tickets to Wrigley Field, but it's not to see the Cubs. We've got a pair of tickets to see Paul McCartney at the Friendly Confines on August 1. To find out how you can enter to win, visit thelocaltourist.com/paulmccartney.
Have a great weekend!
