The Lodge Tavern is the Gold Coast's original neighborhood bar. For 55 years they've been serving drinks and conversation, and during that time they've made an effort to keep the original ambiance. Tonight they're celebrating with 55 cent drinks. From 9pm until 4am that's all it will cost you to get a beer or a cocktail.
The name Genghis Khan conjures up images of a warlord and a tyrant, a warrior that cut a swath of destruction across Asia and Russia. But there was more to the leader than just destruction. The story plays out at The Field Museum with a new exhibit that opened Friday. General admission is free today but there's an additional fee to see the exhibit.
The 17th century was a time of innovation in science, art, and music. Journey to the time of Vivaldi and Telemann with the Music of the Baroque Orchestra. They're performing at the Harris Theater this evening. Tickets are $30 and you can learn about the genre with a free pre-concert lecture at the Chicago Cultural Center at 6pm.
Use your lunch hour to learn about the Hancock Center, one of Chicago's most recognizable buildings. The Chicago Architecture Foundation will teach you about the design of this 100 story building and how it can withstand the winds from Lake Michigan. Please note that the tour does not include a visit to the observation deck.
