We're used to traffic jams in the Loop. This summer they're going to be a lot more colorful. Today the Chicago Loop Alliance unveiled Color Jam, and art installation by Jessica Stockholder. Buildings, sidewalks, and even crosswalks are festooned with bright swaths of vinyl. The artist has covered downtown with more than 75,000 square feet of it, turning the neighborhood into a Willy Wonka-esque playground of festive color.
In addition to the art installation there will be event "installations" this summer. Called Jams, these programs will include concerts, drink specials, hotel discounts, talks, and more.
