If you've involved in the music industry in any way, then you're probably looking forward to May 14. That's when NARM's Annual Convention hits town. The National Association of Recording Merchandisers brings in experts and players from every aspect of the field for an intense few days of panels, discussions, breakout sessions, and most importantly, connections.

I spoke with NARM President Jim Donio about the upcoming convention and what's changed since they were last in town. I was surprised to learn that the Association's first convention was here in Chicago back in 1959. They didn't return until 2007, a span of almost 50 years, but that experience was so positive they're back again a mere three years later.

One of the changes this year is the addition of the Music Business Crash Course. This is exactly what it sounds like, and the two-day program is a must-attend for artists. It's only $29 for musicians and students - that's amazing!

For more information on the convention and the Crash Course, listen to our chat, and I hope to see you there!
