High Noon for Lagunitas Tonight
Vaunted craft brewer Lagunitas is coming to Chicago. Their beer's been here for awhile, but very soon the California brewery will have a Chicago location. To celebrate, High Noon Saloon is hosting a tap takeover. Lagunitas' ambassador Nick Iverson will be at the Wicker Park restaurant and bar at 7 p.m. to chat beer and to sip a few with you.
Beginning at 9 p.m. there will be live music from Nate Holley and giveaways. You could walk with Lagunitas mason jars, posters, coasters, and more. A couple of the beers they're pouring are pretty high in the alcohol content, so keep the buzz to a minimum with some of High Noon Saloon's delicious Tex Mex cuisine. The kitchen will be open 'til 1 a.m.
Featured Lagunitas Brews
Little Sumpin' Wild
A higher gravity seasonal version of the year-round Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale. It’s made with Westmalle Trappist yeast that creates those curious phenolic off-flavors that are freakin’ everyone out these days. Massively dosed with boatloads of wheat and pale malt and finishes with a big, hoppy ending. ABV: 8.8%, $8
We made the Lucky 13 in 2006 for our 13th Anniversary Celebrations, but we liked that Mondo Large Red Ale so much we kept bringing it back year after year. In 2010 we switched up the recipe by swapping the more heavily roasted malts with lighter ones — lightening it up and making it more fitting for the summer months. ABV: 8.90%, $8
Year Round Beers:
Lagunitas IPA was our first seasonal way back in 1995. The recipe was formulated with malt and hops working together to balance it all out on your ‘buds so you can knock back more than one without wearing yourself out. Big on the aroma with a hoppy-sweet finish that’ll leave you wantin’ another sip. ABV: 6.2%, $4
Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale
A truly unique style featuring a strong hop finish on a silky body. A filtered pale wheat ale that is great for both IPA and wheat beer fans. ABV: 7.50%, $4
