Despite the passage of Title IX almost 40 years ago, the opportunity for girls to participate in sports is still inequitable when compared to boys. Girls In The Game was founded in Chicago in 1995 to help bridge that gap, but they go beyond physical activity to help girls on a more holistic level. Executive Director Amy Skeen talked to us about their approach. By working with them on Sports, Health, Leadership, and Life they help these girls become well-rounded women.
As you can probably imagine the demand for this is incredible, and Girls In The Game could definitely use your help. Two upcoming ways you can participate are with their Field Of Dreams gala this Thursday and their March Fun Run on March 15. Listen to the show to find out how they're helping girls with self-esteem, physical fitness, teamwork and leadership and how you can help.
