Rocktoberfest Hits Chicago

The last week in September means its Oktoberfest in Munich and Rocktoberfest in Chicago. To celebrate the joyous Bavarian beer festival in Germany, Rockit River North and Rockit Wrigley are offering warm soft pretzels with cheddar cheese sauce, mini brats with sauerkraut, schnitzel and German chocolate cake.

Sticking with the Bavarian tradition of only serving beer produced in the Munich city limits, Rockit is offering 32oz mugs of Rocktoberfest Beer for only $12 ($8 refills).

I haven’t had a chance to taste any of this year’s menu but it looks similar to the 2010 Rocktoberfest menu – a meal my friend Abbey and I thoroughly enjoyed. Without actually being able to taste the Rocktoberfest Beer, I’m willing to bet it's Rockit signature White Ale.

• Schnitzel (breaded pork with braised red cabbage and lemon basil spaetzle) - $16
• German Chocolate Cake - $6
