Chicago is getting old, but she still has some moves! To celebrate the city’s 177th birthday, Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events is throwing a Mardi Gras-themed birthday party and food truck rally on Tuesday, March 4 from 11am – 7pm.

The celebration starts in the lobby of Daley Center (10:30am) with free Eli’s Cheesecake (while supplies last), before a Mardi Gras-style parade led by The Big Shoulders Brass Band kicks off the food truck rally.

Throughout the day, ten Chicago food trucks will be in Daley Plaza with beer from Goose Island and a DJ. Also included in the celebration will be a “Fat Tuesday” tradition with packzis from Delightful Pastries.

The food truck rally includes:

  • Bridgeport Pasty
  • Flirty Cupcakes
  • Gino’s Steaks Truck
  • Haute and Ready Chicago
  • Husky Hog BBQ
  • Jerk
  • Ms. Tittles Cupcakes
  • Porkchop
  • The Cheesie’s Truck
  • Windy City Patty Wagon

Other celebrations on March 4 include the Chicago History Museum’s “four-star day of fun” activities for the family, participate in the Chicagoan Connect chain art project or discover the meaning of the Chicago flag's four stars on a 30-minute tour.
