Burgers are the quintessential American sandwich. The trend in recent years is the gourmet burger. This August R.J. Grunts introduced its newest gourmet burger created by L20’s renowned Executive Chef Matthew Kirkley. “The Star Burger” is a half pound burger that is charred nicely so you get the juicy middle and the nice crisp edges. Then it’s topped with pepper jack cheese, awesome (super) thick cut bacon, marinated beef steak tomatoes, sliced pepperoncini, crisp lettuce, and nestled between a ciabatta roll that’s been slathered with a roasted red pepper and garlic aioli sauce. My one tip is to ask for the bun toasted otherwise it is way too bready. In addition to the quality of the beef I couldn’t stop loving this thick cut bacon! This bacon was about a ¼ inch thick at least and I could have ordered just a plate of that on its own!
Planning to check out “Jammin’ at the Zoo” Friday August 24th? Guests who bring in their ticket stub will get 15% off food and drinks including “The Star Burger.” To make it a meal I also had some rockin’ onion rings and washed it all down with a hand dipped Oreo milk shake (after I finished my Corona)! Only available through the end of August, burger lovers should head over to R.J. Grunts to try this burger before it disappears for themselves. Guests are encouraged to call (773) 929-5363 for more information or to make a reservation.
