Review of Crisp

I love chicken wings! You love chicken wings! Everyone love’s chicken wings! But have you ever tried Korean chicken wings? If your experience is only from you local sports bar then you are missing out. These jumbo fried wings (not wingettes) are something people should check out.

Located in Boy’s Town, Crisp is bringing Korean fried chicken to the masses. Truthfully, this little restaurant offers quite a bit more than chicken wings such as many different bowls, sandwiches, and even Korean burritos. Truthfully, if you don’t live nearby and it’s your first visit then you gotta go for the wings. I’ve had a couple of the bowls and they weren’t bad but pale in comparison to the wings.

I start off with the “Plain Jane” wings first just to make sure that it’s not all in the sauce. This chicken is served super hot and is very moist and has a pretty damn good crunch. The coating is seasoned so they are very flavorful despite being sauceless. Step up to the BBQ and you get a slightly sweet, spicy, and smoky wing that leaves your fingers a gorgeous mahogany red and only licking your fingers will bring them back to normal.

The show stopper for me was the Seoul Sassy! This slightly sweet sauce has notes of ginger and garlic but absolutely explodes with flavor. Theses sticky wings are topped with scallions which add the perfect onion bite to these amazing wings. The tables have bottles of ketchup for fries but who needs ketchup when you can dip your fries in this delicious sauce!

As with any place the wings are better if you eat there instead of grabbing them to go, but either way you’ll get some rockin’ chicken! If I lived in the area I would probably give some other menu items another try but since I only hit this place up on occasion I am hard pressed to order anything but these awesome wings! Rating **** out of *****.
