Taste of Chicago Highlights - Day 3
The Clydesdales are here! My mom's always loved the Budweiser Clydesdales, which is cute because she's really small and they're really big. The huge horses will be at the Rose Garden north of Buckingham Fountain (anyone else think that having creatures with hooves as big as my head in a rose garden is a bad idea?).
Cooking Corner
Learn healthy and sustainable cooking today with Chef Greg Christian, and hear about "The Flexitarian Diet" with author Dawn Jackson Blatner this afternoon. Local chefs Jackie Shen (Red Light), Tonya Valentine (Chant) and Jeff Muldrow (Va Pensiero) demonstrate.
Family Village & Fun Time Stage
It's all about the green for the kids today, and I'm not talking about money. The Little Environmentalists teach them how to be green, followed by green activities. They might be green with envy when they see kids their ages on stage with Paul Green's School Of Rock and then the Battle Of The Bands. Finalists have to be between the ages of 5 and 18.
Taste Sports! Pavilion
Since it's day 3 of this food lovers extravaganza you may need to work out a little more. Bally's Total Fitness today returns with an extra hour. You might also be inspired by those runners returning from Race To The Taste, or the always-inspiriting Olympians and Paralympians. Meet and greet them from 1 to 2pm.
The Music
There's been a lot of great music over the years. Camp out in front of the Illinois Lottery Taste Stage Today, where the theme is "Cover Bands Through The Decades". Over 40 years worth of music is featured, starting in the 2000s and working back until the 60s.
Lovehammers
have a huge local following, so you might want to get to Petrillo Band Shell early today. They're followed by The Wallflowers
, who are no, well, wallflowers. And to come full circle, one of their first CDs was "Bringing Down The Horse."
Today's complete schedule is on The Local Tourist's ChicagoNow.
