How To Have A Great Run

6 January 2008 Send To a Friend

1. Wear out your existing shoes until the sole is almost gone. Then put on new ones. It’s like running on springs, baby.

2. Wait until the weather is so unseasonably warm your body thinks it’s been running outside for two months already.

3. Listen to Seven Day Sonnet.

There’s just something about running to heavy hitting music with a vocalist who can alternately sing melodically or scream his ever-lovin’ lungs out, a bassist whose underlying funk drives the skillful and moving guitarists, and a drummer who pulls and pushes you along with an infectious energy. The combination is powerful.

I’ve been eagerly anticipating this band. I met Jordan Popp, Steve Floro, and Anthony Lojeski (also with Disonic) when interviewing them as members of Ziel over a year ago. That band split up, but I’ve seen the guys out at various shows and they told me about this new group.

If you’re a fan of Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Breaking Benjamin and the like, I guarantee you’ll become a fan of Seven Day Sonnet. They’ve got two songs out now and they’re working on their EP. I’ll be sure to let you know when it’s out, as well as when they book any Chicago shows (soon guys, please? pretty please?).
