Margaret Murphy ImageFrom Ms. Murphy:

A Chicago native, Margaret began her vocal career at the age of 11 when she was chosen in a citywide talent search to play Dorothy in the WTTW, Channel 11 production of the Wizard of Oz. At the age of 25, she met the legendary jazz tenor saxophonist Von Freeman and was hired as the vocalist for his quartet. She has appeared with Von at the Chicago Jazz Festival, Taste of Chicago, The Jazz Showcase, Andy’s and many other Chicago venues. Margaret is also featured on Von’s “Live From The Jazz Showcase” album. As leader of her own quartet, Margaret has worked in just about every jazz and blues venue in Chicago. She was featured at the famous Pump Room in the Ambassador East hotel for a six month stint and has performed at the Navy Pier Budweiser stage for the last four years during their summer season. Margaret with keyboardist/vocalist Mike Logan recorded the theme song for the independent film, “Pieces of A Dream” which is being screened throughout the United States and Europe. She recently completed her solo CD “In Full Bloom” which was released in August, 2007 and was awarded a “Grindie” by Radio.Indie for her vocal performance on the Sade song “Pearls.” Margaret is also an independent radio Gold Artist, recognized for excellence in productions and vocals on “In Full Bloom.”
