Update: Lyric Opera Strike Averted
28 September 2007 Send To a FriendUpdate: The parties reached a tentative agreement, so the show will go on.
The Lyric Opera’s set to open its season with La Traviata tomorrow evening, and plans on celebrating its annual ball at the Hilton Chicago on Sunday, but the American Guild of Musical Artists has other ideas. The union represents the singers’ agents, and unless an agreement is reached they and, possibly, the Chicago Federation of Musicians Local 10-208, which represents the orchestra members, will strike and picket both events. However, they’re pretty confident all issues will be resolved in time.
