American Girl says move over Lord & Taylor

21 December 2006 Send To a Friend

Technically American Girl isn’t kicking Lord & Taylor out, but they are going to take over their Water Tower location and will open fall 2008. The current location at 111 E Chicago is simply too small for the popular store, so they’re going to take 52,000 square feet of the department store’s space.

Lord & Taylor isn’t leaving the high traffic Water Tower happily. It is being kicked out by landlord General Growth because it’s paying $7.90 a square foot versus the standard $55 a square foot for Michigan Avenue stores. (According to Crain’s Chicago Business.)
