Yum! If you are searching for the perfect sausage, chances are you will find it in Wrigleyville this weekend at the third annual SausageFest in the shadow of Wrigley Field.
Back again with their meats will be: Chicago's Dog House, Bobak's Sausage Company, Paulina Meat Market, Polka Sausage & Deli, Wisconsin's Gilbert's Craft Sausages, street fest mainstay Genoa Italian, plus two newcomers: the Loop's Westminster Hot Dog and Cevapcici Chicago. In addition, the sausages of the Northwest Side's Nottoli & Son Italian Sausage Shop will be sold through the booth of Greek Delights.
As with most festivals in Chicago there will be plenty of fine music to go with the good eats:
Most importantly, come see who will be crowned the "Sausage King of Chicago" (in reference to the fictional Abe Froman character in the cult movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off). The individual who raises the most pledges to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (serving military vets) will be crowned 2013 Sausage King of Chicago at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, on the music stage.
Link lovers will be in culinary heaven at SausageFest. Hours are 12noon-10pm both days on the 3600 block of North Sheffield. A small $5 donation to enter benefits the Lake View citizens' Council.
