Bad Things Are A Good Thing At Lollapalooza
Lollapalooza may only be three days but the amount of entertainment planned for this long weekend could easily fill a month. You can always count on a massive amount of music and surprises. Today's biggest musical surprise was the realization that Olympic gold medalist Shaun White doesn't just shred on a snowboard and surfboard...he totally shreds on guitar! His band Bad Things played a surprise set on the Kidzapalooza stage this afternoon with Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell. Shaun White is almost unrecognizable with his new short haircut. And per usual, Perry Farrell seems to age backwards. Bad Things also will now be closing out the festival's Grove stage Saturday night after Death Grips failed to show at a pre-festival party at Bottom Lounge Friday night. Their no-show caused them to be booted from Lollapalooza. And Perry Farrell wasn't the only person peaved...angry fans reportedly tore apart a drum kit set up for the band at the Bottom Lounge. The venue will refund tickets.
Yesterday during Imagine Dragons set there was black smoke eminating from the side of the stage that was presumed by the crowd to be some sort of special effect but in reality they blew a speaker. Thankfully fans reacted with much more positivity to that unplanned rock and roll moment.
Tomorrow (Sunday) is the final day of Lollapalooza. The Kidzapalooza stage will certainly be the location of more suprises, particularly around 3:45pm. (yes, that's a hint...) Lollapalooza after parties continue this weekend, with a lot of folks excited to see Salt-n-Pepa playing at the Hard Rock Hotel and Samantha Ronson spinning at Underground Saturday night.
