Hanging By A Thread

Oh you think you are so crafty, walking back into the office after (wink, wink) going to grab a quick coffee. Rather, you ventured out on what you thought was the “DL,†in order to get a brow wax. Never mind the fact that you strolled back in with a red stripe across your face, not to mention the puffiness above your eye sockets.
If you can carve out a bit of time after work or on a weekend to visit the ethnic Devon Avenue neighborhood, then the above circumstance will be a distant memory. I recently ventured up to Rupa Salon to test out the ancient art of threading. While historical evidence shows that threading was used as a method of hair removal for all areas of the body, my adventuresome nature only took me as far as an eyebrow clean up!
The procedure utilizes the same thread you recently struggled to stick in the eye of a needle, in order to sew on a missing button to last year’s winter coat. Using a two-hand grip, the thread is twisted back and forth along the hairs that are to be removed for either clean up, or shaping purposes. The twisting action of the thread traps the hair and lifts it out of the follicle. This method of hair removal is more effective and less painful than tweezing or waxing and the best part is, nobody will ever know where you were five minutes before re-entering a room!
Benefits Of Threading Vs Waxing
* Does not exfoliate a layer of skin.
* Hair does not grow back as fast! Two weeks later and I have yet to clean up with tweezers.
* Skin does not get as red and irritated.
* Can pull out specific individual hairs for shaping purposes.
* Hair does not need to be long or over grown in order to receive service.
* Will not produce more hairs, or grow back thick and dark.
* Will pick up even the finest hairs.
* Only costs $5, less than your afternoon coffee jaunt.
